Let’s play Back to the Future, the Fitness Version. Right now you’re stuck in 2018, April to be specific. You just turned 63. Your weight is the highest it’s ever been, you’re out of shape and it’s been so long since you had an exercise program you don’t even know where to start. At one time or another you’ve been a member of every gym within a 25 mi radius and you’ve been on every diet available. You are so done with fads and you’re serious about getting in shape. You want personal attention, someone who will work with you to reach your goals. Someone who will keep you motivated and make you work! Because you’re ready to do the work. So you meet Taylor Bidmead, a no nonsense, down to earth, extremely knowledgeable fitness trainer. Taylor gives you an initial evaluation and discusses a fitness program. And for all your excuses, Taylor has an answer. So you start working out with Taylor twice a week. It’s hard. But for probably the first time in a fitness program your trainer is taking the time to make sure you do each exercise correctly – what a difference that makes!
Taylor is tough but she’s also compassionate. There’s no drill sergeant screaming in your year, just someone who calmly encourages you to do your best. And your best starts to get better! Within a short period of time you can lift more and do more reps than when you started. Your endurance and stamina improves and with it, your confidence. It’s not a miracle transformation but the rewards are immediate. You feel better. And you actually look forward to your workouts! Now for the view of future you: you workout 2-3 times a week, you’re chest pressing 20 lbs and you LOVE arm workouts (who is this person?). You’re down almost 20 lbs, but even more exciting is that you’ve put on muscle! And strong rocks! You’ve even completed three walking 5K’s and your personal best pace is a 13:15 mile. Next goal is to get sub-13! And all along the way Taylor has been there to guide and support you, to encourage you and to continue to challenge you. She’s pretty awesome. And she doesn’t even mind when you swear! It just doesn’t get any better than this. So take a deep breath, dust off your workout clothes and get to work!

I have worked with personal trainers in the past, so I thought I knew what to expect. I was wrong in the best of ways! Taylor has been amazing to work with. She really took the time to get to know me, and what my body was capable of. I get really nervous when trying new things, and I’ve had a long history of hating exercise, but Taylor is so supportive and motivating that I actually get bummed when I have to cancel a session. Wish I had found her sooner!
